Throughout July, purchase a paper pawprint at Mister HotShine Car Wash and Lube Center, 5055 Northland Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, and support our efforts to save animals’ lives. Paws cost $1, $5, or $10, and you can write your name or your pet’s name on them and paper the walls of the car wash. You’ll also receive an exclusive offer from Mister HotShine on your receipt. So stop on in and show your support!


Black Dog Society Launch

Black dogs and cats are generally the last to be adopted in shelters and are given up to shelters by their owners in much larger numbers. Those involved in animal welfare have dubbed this phenomena “Black Dog and Cat Syndrome.”

That’s why we’re launching the Black Dog Society. If your dog has 50% or more black fur, you and your dog qualify. Membership in the society is $25 a year, and if you adopt a 50%-or-more black dog from the Cedar Valley Humane Society, the first year’s membership is on us!

The benefits of joining:

•annual event exclusively for all black dogs and their owners
•FREE sitting (valued at $75) for your black dog from Ambroja Photography

Dog’s Night Out at Ushers Ferry

The Cedar Valley Humane Society is just one of the many pet-oriented groups at this fun event. So come on out, parade your dog around and take part in the owner/pet lookalike contest.
